# Receive terms

> Create, list, read, update, enable, disable and delete receive terms in the account settings.

Receive terms are account settings, each defined by a `period` and a `duration`. These endpoints create, list, read, update and delete receive terms, and enable or disable them. This area has 5 endpoints, each available in all seven SDKs.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Deleting a receive term cannot be undone.** Set its `status` to `inactive` instead to stop using it.

## Before you call

Register your API credentials once when your app starts, as shown in
[Authentication](https://exsited.mintlify.site/authentication.md). Every SDK sample on these pages then gets its client in one line.
With cURL, send the access token in an `Authorization` header: `Authorization: Bearer $ACCESS_TOKEN`.

## Things to know

* **Every write body is wrapped in `receive_term`.**
* **`period` is sent in upper case and read back in lower case.** Send `MONTHLY`, read `monthly`.
* **The create takes `name`, `display_name`, `period` and `duration`.**
* **`status` takes `active` or `inactive`.** Use the update to enable or disable a term.
* **Listings page by cursor.** Records are under `data`; pass `pagination.next_cursor` as `cursor` while `pagination.has_more` is `true`.
