# Communications

> Email an invoice, purchase invoice, account statement or payment to the recipients you name.

Communications send documents by email. This area emails one invoice, purchase invoice, account statement or payment to the recipients you name. It has 1 endpoint, and every SDK supports it.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Every call sends real email to the recipients you name.** Use addresses you control when you try it.

## At a glance

| Endpoint | Method | Path | What it does |
| - | - | - | - |
| [Email a document](https://exsited.mintlify.site/api-reference/communications/email-a-document.md) | POST | `/communications/send_email` | Emails one invoice, purchase invoice, account statement or payment. |

## Before you call

Register your API credentials once when your app starts, as shown in
[Authentication](https://exsited.mintlify.site/authentication.md). Every SDK sample on these pages then gets its client in one line.
With cURL, send the access token in an `Authorization` header: `Authorization: Bearer $ACCESS_TOKEN`.

## Things to know

* **The body names one document.** Send one of `invoice`, `purchase_invoice`, `account_statement` or `payment`, holding that document's `id`.
* **Recipients and content go next to the document key.** The body also takes `to`, `cc`, `bcc`, `subject`, `body` and `template`.
* **The response body is not documented yet.** A sent email returns `200`.
