# Applications

> List, create, read, update and delete the OAuth applications registered on your Exsited instance.

Applications are the OAuth applications registered on your Exsited instance. You can list, create, read, update and delete them. This area has 5 endpoints, and all seven SDKs call every one.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **The client id and secret of a new application are generated by Exsited and never returned by the API.**

## At a glance

| Endpoint | Method | Path | What it does |
| - | - | - | - |
| [List applications](https://exsited.mintlify.site/api-reference/applications/list-applications.md) | GET | `/settings/applications` | Returns one page of the OAuth applications on your instance. |
| [Create an application](https://exsited.mintlify.site/api-reference/applications/create-an-application.md) | POST | `/settings/applications` | Creates an OAuth application and returns it under `application`. |
| [Retrieve an application](https://exsited.mintlify.site/api-reference/applications/retrieve-an-application.md) | GET | `/settings/applications/{application_id}` | Returns one OAuth application by its `app_` id. |
| [Delete an application](https://exsited.mintlify.site/api-reference/applications/delete-an-application.md) | DELETE | `/settings/applications/{application_id}` | Deletes an OAuth application and returns no body. |
| [Update an application](https://exsited.mintlify.site/api-reference/applications/update-an-application.md) | PATCH | `/settings/applications/{application_id}` | Changes an OAuth application's fields or its status and returns it under `application`. |

## Before you call

Register your API credentials once when your app starts, as shown in
[Authentication](https://exsited.mintlify.site/authentication.md). Every SDK sample on these pages then gets its client in one line.
With cURL, send the access token in an `Authorization` header: `Authorization: Bearer $ACCESS_TOKEN`.

## Things to know

* **`name` and `redirect_url` are required to create an application.** Send them under `application`.
* **Applications are identified by an `app_` id.** Use the `id` from a create or a listing as `application_id`.
* **One application comes back under `application`.** Create, read and update all return `{"application": {...}}`.
* **Delete returns `204` with no body.** A read of the deleted application then returns `404`.
* **Listings page by cursor.** Records sit under `data`; pass `pagination.next_cursor` as `cursor` to read the next page, and stop when `pagination.has_more` is `false`.
